Swinging In Modern Times
Whilst swinging has been around since the early 1950s when it was more frequently referred to as wife swapping, it was not generally accepted by the majority as a legitimate social pastime. As the perceived moral standards relaxed during the swinging sixties more adventurous pursuits became tolerated and subsequently enjoyed by a greater number of participants.
With the advent of the Internet, the opportunity to organise swingers activities on a much wider scale flourished and although swingers do not form the largest group in leisure activities, their numbers are now at an all time high. Although still not regarded favourably by many ‘straights’ – (mainly older people), there is not the social stigma involved in this modern era. Swingers are now largely free to enjoy the activities they choose with others of a like mind without fear of recrimination. The advent of swingers websites such as Swinging Heaven has helped to create a much wider arena for those with a taste for a more adventurous lifestyle.
Looking back over the last 60 years, the modern scene may seem to be more organised and more widespread than it was but it is a sphere that is constantly evolving there is no doubt there are innovations yet to be thought of. The prospects for the swinging set are certainly on the bright side.
